About Harry Davies
Harry was a devoted husband to Joan and father to Peter and Kenneth. On leaving school at 18, he went straight into the Merchant Navy in 1940. He spent the next five years on dangerous convoy duty in the Atlantic, and travelling between the Middle East, Far East, and Australia. After completing his war service, Harry remained with the Merchant Navy and successfully completed his Master Mariner Certificate and he also obtained a pilot's licence for the River Mersey, Liverpool.
He worked long hours but was able to spend many happy times at home with his family and avoided lengthy sea voyages. Harry was very popular with all members of Joan's family and his own and provided friendship and guidance whenever needed. He died suddenly and much too young.
